Sonder

Hosted by Coopersville Brewing Company, Sonder is a collaborative, mixed-media art installation by illustrator/graphic designer, Aaron McCall, and photographer, Joe Matteson. The installation is a cry for understanding that it’s not enough to exist without empathy or the consideration that everyone you meet, every passerby, is living out a story as meaningful and complex as your own. Think of your biases, your shortcomings, and the superficial nonsense that feeds our egos. Peel it all back, and we’re all made of the same stuff. And we all want the same thing—love and acceptance—to be celebrated for who we are, not condemned. The artwork consists of 4 photographs painted to represent and celebrate the stories of the 4 courageous and confident subjects: Dayfran, Therese, Curt, and Peighton. Additionally, 6 prints hang throughout the brewery to support the messages of empathy and compassion. On Friday, October 13, both artists and all 4 models will be at Coopersville Brewing Company to celebrate the opening of Sonder. It would mean the world to us for you to come and enjoy some artwork, drink some great beer, and hang out with us. The installation will run through the end of November and cost nothing to enjoy.
